Biography
Born in Uruguay, Santiago Vidal is one of the most important emerging tenors of the new generation of Latin American singers.
He began his career singing roles at the Teatro Solis in Montevideo which included the roles of Schmidt in Werther, Borsa in Rigoletto, Francisco in San Francisco de Asis, Atenero in La Revoltosa, Ricardo in La del Manojo de Rosas. This and this past season he made his debut as B.F. Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly and sang in an Opera and Zarzuela Gala with mezzo-soprano Nancy Fabiola Herrera alongside the Montevideo Philharmonic Orchestra.
In the 2023-2024 season he made his debut at the Buenos Aires Teatro Colón singing the role of Ismaele in Nabucco and Harvey in Anna Bolena. He also made his debut at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville singing Ismaele in Nabucco led by Sergio Alapont and sang the Verdi Requiem National Symphony Orchestra Sodre in Montevideo as well as the Messa di Gloria by Puccini with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Porto Alegre.
In the 2024-2025 season he Santiago Vidal sings the Verdi Requiem with the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, and sings the role of Lord McDuff in Lady McBeth at the Teatro Villamarta in Jeréz de la Fronera in Spain.
Santiago Vidal premiered the role of Martín in the opera La Dama del Alba by Luís Vázquez del Fresno at the Campoamor Theater in Oviedo convened and directed by Mtro. Emilio Sagi and was presented for the first time at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid in 2023 in La Dolores.
