Biography

Born in Uruguay, Santiago Vidal is one of the emerging new generation of Latin American singers.


He began participating in the opera seasons of Montevideo's Teatro Solis in roles such as Schmidt in Werther, Borsa in Rigoletto, Francisco in San Francisco de Asis, Atenedoro in La Revoltosa, Ricardo in La del Manojo de Rosas, and finally B.F. Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly this past 2023 season. He also performed an Opera and Zarzuela Gala with mezzo-soprano Nancy Fabiola Herrera and the Montevideo Philharmonic Orchestra.


In the 2023-2024 season, Santiago Vidal made his debut at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires singing Ismaele in Nabucco, a role he performed in his debut with the Teatro de la Maestranza also in 2024. He returned to the Teatro Colón to sing Harvey in Anna Bolena, and sang the role of Alfredo in La Traviata at the Teatro El Circulo in Rosario, Argentina. He also premiered the role of Martín in La Dama del Alba by Luís Vázquez del Fresno at the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo, convened and directed by Maestro Emilio Sagi, and made his first appearance at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid in 2023 in the zarzuela La Dolores. He also debuted the tenor role in Verdi's Messa da Requiem with the SODRE National Symphony Orchestra in Montevideo and with the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, as well as Puccini's Messa di Gloria with the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra.


In 2025, he sang the role of Lord McDuff in Lady McBeth with the Villamarta Theater Opera in Jerez de la Frontera.
